We've heard from teachers organizing to defend their students from ICE\, federal workers facing crackdowns & fighting to protect our public services\, a b us driver organizing his co-workers to push back against austerity\, a Pal estinian organizer helping to stop weapons shipments from Oakland to Israe l\, volunteers helping workers unionize to fight back against the daily op pressions they face on the job\, and leaders of the successful fight to di vest Alameda County from Israeli apartheid. Each meeting is \;filled with rich community discussion as we process our political moment... and t ake action.
For every campaign\, we show up later that month to ORGA NIZE! Volunteers from the Community Meeting have given testimony at Board meetings against investment in apartheid\, flyered Oakland businesses with signs educating workers on preventing ICE from entering\, joined ICE watc h patrols\, and so much more.

C) for activists. The techniques of NVC have been around since th
e ‘70’s\, and have been practiced\, and evolved\, by countless individ
uals and organizations. NVC is not free from cri
tique. Like all tools\, it can be used to further silence and suppress oth
ers\, even by those who are well-meaning (which can often be the most gasl
ighting/irritating). For this reason\, we will hold space for NVC
trauma\, and refer to Meenadchi’s Decolonizing Non-
Violent Communication. With Meenadchi’s revisions
in mind-heart\, we will learn and practice through role-plays scenarios w
ith family\, activist-opponents\, outreach with community members\, and wi
th our fellow organizing comrades. While NVC is
often reduced to a conflict-resolution practice\, NVC also enhances relati

country’s wealth. Wages have barely gone up for the last 50 years even
though the economy has grown significantly. The question that immediatel
y rises in my mind is why the 99% do not revolt and seize the country and
confiscate the wealth of the billionaires? \n You may say that th
e capitalists control the government and therefore both the army and the p
olice. True\, but most of the coercive apparatus consists of working-clas
s people who you would think would oppose the billionaires. \;However
\, most of the working class is not trying to overthrow capitalism and in
fact a large percent of the American working class voted for Donald Trump.
If DSA is correct on the exploitative nature of the capitalist class\, w
hy is the working class not revolting?\n This presentation has two
